April 8, 2020, West of Cochrane
On Wednesday April 8, Fred and I decided to go for a drive and a walk on country roads just west of Cochrane. We are incredibly fortunate to live in the far NW of Calgary because living here gives us mountain views every day. We have always felt blessed living here because we can drive a mere 45 minutes and be climbing over a 1000 m to reach the peak of Mount Allan. And on this day, I was so grateful that with just a short drive and a long camera lens, I would feel the mountains.
Respecting the various provincial park and recreational area closures in place to help combat the spread of COVID-19, Fred and I drove the 1A and back roads. We loaded up the car with various items just in case we got into trouble and we had our oldest son on standby to get us in case something happened. While these pictures will never be great because of the lens used and then the cropping that needed to be done, the images of the day will carry me for a while. The real treat was seeing SIX bald eagles feeding on a carcass. Three were adults (white heads) and the other three were juveniles.
