January 5, 2019, Chester Lake
Distance: 10 kms return
Elevation: 325 m
On Saturday, January 5, 2019, Fred and I headed into Kananaskis to snowshoe the Chester Lake-elephant rock trail. It was a super chilly day registering minus 27 when we started. And it was also a beautiful blue sky and brilliant sunshine day.
For the past few years, Fred and I have started out the new year with this snowshoe. With an early start, we usually have the trail to ourselves until we are returning and people are full of warmth and good cheer. This New Year's Day had us trekking up Indefatigable Ridge with Nic, so Fred and I decided to enjoy Chester a few days later.
While I am starting to really appreciate branching out and trying new hikes and scrambles, Chester is one of those trails I enjoy doing in the winter because the beauty surrounding me in the meadows never fails to take my breath away.
This day was no different. A delightful time in the mountains with my husband. 😀
